Former 49ers receiver Dwight Clark announces ALS diagnosis

"While I'm still trying to wrap my head around the challenge I will face with this disease over the coming years," Clark wrote, "the only thing I know is that I'm going to fight like hell and live every day to the fullest."

Reading that made me say a proud "hell yes you will"

It's a very strange emotion- inspired by his determination to fight like my Dad & so many others but f*cking pissed off b/c there is not ONE thing to give these people hope, NOTHING.

So that is what you do, you either live your last years on this earth as a negative "poor me" individual or you try your damn best to wake up each day just happy to be alive.

As a wise man once said "It's not going to be easy, but it's going to be awesome. Awesome ain't easy." - Steve Gleason

We're fighting alongside you, Dwight & fam. You got this!

Hey ALS,

You've taken a lot from my Dad, but he's still got his smile. Please don't f*ck with that.

Life is beautiful

I could sit up and talk with my Dad all night, if he would let me.

Recently he has been unable to make any noise when he tries to talk but tonight I could understand every word he said, even in the small amount of light (usually I try to read his lips)

The last thing he said as I tucked him in was "night, night sweetie pie..poop". He always called me "poop" when I was a little tot. Doesn't read as sweet as it sounded/sounds when he says it though.

Life is beautiful. I hope everyone is able to find beauty in everything they do.

A once in a lifetime chance

I had a dream of getting my dad to meet one of his all time favorite singers, Alison Krauss. Put together a video/letter and sent it to all of the contacts I could find.

It got into the hands of Alison Krauss & the Union Stations manager & we were able to have a "meet & greet" with AHUS after their wonderful show @ the Chrysler Hall this past Friday.

Can't keep up!

WALK because you can..

The walk is just around the corner. I haven't been able to devote as much time as usual to this years walk b/c of my work schedule & dad having surgery mid-Aug.  If you haven't signed up, there is still plenty of time to do so and raise $ (a minimum of $50).

It is going to be a great event & will help in the fight against this horrible disease!
